Ernest Victor Emmanuel Hubbard
Oral family history (recounted by Neville Grieves) tells that Victor was a farmer's son (and that his father was a gentleman farmer/ landowner) . He was apparently an ex soldier who retired from the army in the early 1900s.
• Census: 1881, 3 Apr 1881, Cottage, Hilborough, Norfolk. 5 • Occupation: Soldier, 1890s?. 6 This is according to the oral history that Neville Grieves received from his mother (Ernest was Neville's grandfather). • Occupation: Agricultural labourer, 1901. 2 Ernest married Solino Sumner, daughter of Robert Sumner and Eliza (Sumner), in 1906 in Stockport.1 (Solino Sumner was born in 1871 in Farnworth, Lancashire. 7 8, christened on 20 Aug 1871 in St. John The Evangelist, Farnsworth & Kearsley, Lancashire 9 and died in Nov 1942 in Bolton, Lancashire. 6 10.)

"Victor drank with all his cronies - so he left Selina (before or after Hare & Hounds? - probably after). Left her with his 2 stepchildren, Sam & Vara, Olga and twins who died later. She couldn't cope with the pub on her own and was left without anything." |
