Ernie Pitt's photographs

Ernie was born at the turn of the 20th century and obviously saw huge changes in his lifetime.

He served in the Navy during the Great War and nearly died of influenza or spanish flu - not sure which one . . .After the war he trained as a teacher at Aberystwyth University, becoming History Master at Abersychan Grammar School and later the first Head Teacher of Grofield Secondary Modern School at Abergavenny. He married twice, to Hilda and then Cerrie and had 3 sons, Bron, Tony and Arnold. He died in Cerrie’s arms while on holiday at Amroth, Carmarthenshire in June 1963.
